43dB SOUNDPROOF SASH WINDOWS INSTALLATION
Located on the corner of a busy A road in the heart of Nunhead, this family home was suffering from mixed traffic all times of the day and night. This was exacerbated by a speed bump right outside of the property, which produced doppler-effected engine noises, as well as the sounds of vehicles going over the bump itself.
At its greatest (Lmax) the noise level recorded in the customer’s living room was 54.5dB, with a minimum (Lmin) of 34.2dB, averaging out around 39.1dB (LAeq).
Because the customer’s complaint wasn’t too severe, we opted to install our 43dB Soundproof curved sash windows. An all-purpose window, they are designed to deal with noise pollution at a variety of frequencies.
As the property was in a conservation area we kept the windows as close to the original aesthetic as possible, finishing the frames with the same RAL white and matching the dimensions of their previous sash windows.
The maximum noise level now recorded at the customer’s property is 37dB, an improvement of 17dB, which equates to around an 85% difference in perceptible noise. This averages out around 34.99dB, an improvement of 4.11dB and a perceptible reduction of 20.55%.
It’s now just their neighbour’s TV that’s causing a problem.
