THE CUSTOMER
Located on a busy A road linking Catford with Lee, this home was blasted by the noise of cars, buses, motorbikes and lorries passing through at all hours. All made worse by the near constant ambulance sirens from University Hospital Lewisham just around the corner.
At its highest, the Lmax we recorded in the property was 58dB – the minimum (Lmin) was 33.5dB, averaging out at 42.1dB during the time of recording.
OUR SOLUTION
Due to the fact that the noise levels were so high, we chose to install our 51dB triple glazed mock sash windows. This is our top-of-the-line product, boasting the best noise reduction coefficient.
Complete with glazing bars, these windows give the external appearance of sash while delivering the far superior noise reductions of a tilt and turn window. This is due to the fact that the mock sash houses a multi-point locking system and can support triple glazing unlike the original.
THE RESULTS
The average noise level now recorded at the customer’s property is 27.7dB, an improvement of 14.4dB, which equates to around an 80% difference in perceptible noise. Where previously the noise level reached an unbearable 58dB, the new Lmax recorded peaked at 35dB.
Perhaps the starkest contrast is that the difference between the min and max readings are now just 8.2dB. (vs 24.5dB)
