THE CUSTOMER
Situated in Grade II listed Bow Quarter, the customer’s crittal windows and standard secondary glazing were simply not up to task. With the Overground, mainline and Docklands Light Railway all meandering their way behind this old match factory, train noise was penetrating their whole apartment, making it practically unlivable.
OUR SOLUTION
The pre-existing windows were over 4 metres tall and have a curved frame at the top, meaning that we could not install our Ultra solution due to its specialised opening mechanism. Instead, we opted to install our 47dB Soundproof+ secondary windows. More flexible in design, they would still provide far superior reductions in noise intrusion compared to their current solution.
THE RESULTS
The maximum noise level now recorded at the customer’s property is 42.9dB, an improvement of 19.1dB (vs 67dB), which equates to around an 85% difference in perceptible noise. The average sound level is now 32.2dB, an improvement of 17dB (vs 49.2dB) and a perceptible reduction of 70%.
What’s more, our low u-value glazing has meant that their home no longer gets incredibly hot in the summer due to the size of the windows. Just a little cherry on top.
